Joey risks his career and his reputation to protect Paul. Mike is forced to kill a drug dealer in a hostage situation, while his father manages to end another hostage situation with everyone still alive. Joe and Ginny are having a relationship that might become sexual. Paul gets a real job.
Joe tries vainly to save his marriage with Mary, but ends up making out with Ginny. Mike and Cliff track a valet who gets copies of keys to cars. Mike feels badly about Donny's foster-car situation. Joey sleeps with his union lawyer. Paul's long hours of school and pizz-delivery are taking its toll, and he starts dozing off all the time.
An enemy is trying to blackmail Joe, and informs Mike about his father's affair with Ginny. Joey plays the hero and nabs the murderer of a young Russian immigrant mother. Paul delivers a pizza to a late-night poker game and loses his job when he stays to play, but wins $500 that his opponents can't pay. Mike is still persuing bringing Donny into his home even though Erin is against it. Erin is considering going back to college so she doesn't end up like Mary. Mary gets some counseling from a priest.
Joey has to find an ear that was chewed off in a barroom brawl. Joey finds out his girlfriend isn't exactly faithful. Erin and Mike argue over whether to have Donny live with them. Mary agrees to marriage counseling. Paul gets a job working on the trading floor for his spoiled new girlfriend's father. Keefer continues to torture Turk about his affair.
